Know who has paid without scrolling WhatsApp
Rent does not arrive as a bank line you can trust at a glance. It arrives as a screenshot, from MoMo, Airtel Money or a bank transfer slip, sometimes sent by a spouse or a relative paying for the tenant. It is on you to work out whether it is real, whether it is the full amount and whether you have already counted it. Tezeka does that checking with you.

Proof is not the same as certainty
A tenant sends a screenshot showing K3,500 paid. Is that the whole month, or part of it with the rest to follow? Did the same screenshot arrive twice, once from the tenant and once from a relative trying to help? Is the name on the sender line even the tenant’s, when rent is so often paid from a spouse’s or a parent’s phone?
Most of the time none of this is dishonest. It is simply what mobile money rent looks like. Checking it by eye against a list in your head is where landlords lose track, and the gap usually shows weeks later, when it has grown.

One October morning in Chelston
Tezeka reads each screenshot and suggests the match. The decision stays with you.

Mary’s rent arrives from her husband’s phone. The reference matches it to Flat 2.

Her sister forwards the same screenshot. It is recognised and counted once.

Mutale pays K1,500 of K3,500. The K2,000 shortfall is flagged.

You confirm both payments, and each gets a receipt number and a date.
Why a forwarded screenshot still counts once
Two tenants sending the same round figure on the same day, or one screenshot reaching you twice, used to mean checking your own notes before you dared tick anything. Matching by the tenant’s reference and the unit closes that gap: the same proof sent again is recognised as the same payment, not a second one.

Start with the property you have
Solo is K99 a month for 1 unit. Your tenants keep paying you directly by MoMo, Airtel Money or bank transfer. Tezeka never touches your rent.
Does Tezeka hold or receive my rent?
No. Your tenants pay you directly, exactly as they do now, by MoMo, Airtel Money, bank transfer or cash. Tezeka checks the evidence and keeps the record. The money never passes through us.
Which payment methods are supported?
MoMo, Airtel Money, bank transfer and cash. Whatever proof a tenant would normally send you can be checked against what they owe.
What happens with a part payment?
It is matched against what is owed for that month and the shortfall is flagged, instead of the payment quietly being treated as the full amount.
Can I still decide myself if something looks wrong?
Yes. Tezeka reads and matches the proof, but Confirm or Not paid is always your decision.
Can I export my payment history?
Yes, as a full history export. It is useful for ZRA records, a bank application, or handing a portfolio to a new agent.
What if a tenant pays from someone else’s phone?
Matching uses the tenant’s reference and the amount, not the name on the sender line, so a payment from a spouse, a parent or a sponsor still lands on the right tenant.
